- Summary
- Acknowledges HL's letter of 30 June. It was obvious to John Jay, as he left for England, that some politicians in the United States, and their followers were to be against any treaty with England. The treaty will be vindicated or condemned in time, as it deserves. Meanwhile, John Jay will bear-up. Parties based on honest differences of opinion are to be expected, and are helpful for good government. This is not the case with factions.
