Summary
Livingston has never been distanced in the pursuit of virtue but occasionally needs spurring on. Thinks some of the measures of the New York legislature more severe than dictated by wisdom and humanity. Posterity being dispassionate will judge that they were passed hastily under the impetus of resentment. Hopes to see him soon.
