Summary
One William Y. Tuttle was tried before him for stealing a horse and sleigh. Before sentencing the man escaped, and upon recapture he was brought before the Supreme Court, which sentenced him to 18 months in prison. As Benson believes the felonious intent was not adequately proved, he requests that Jay consider whether a reduction of the Supreme Court sentence may not be appropriate.
