- Summary
- Congratulations on daughter's birth and expected return in the spring. Farm at Rye appraised at request of Peter. Getting back into business; three shipments from Amsterdam sold well. Cloth and woolens from Yorkshire and Manchester in demand. Will start importing items suited to 'Country Trade'. Shipments from Ireland and Hamburg good. Wishes Jay to get a contract or order for supplying French or Spanish government with wheat or flour, or their settlements with flour. Mr. Simpson used to have contract with Spanish at New Orleans for flour; would share the trade and wishes to renew it. Will write again after evacuation, probably in two-three days. Governor now at Eastchester, goes to him tomorrow. Peter doing well; speaks very clearly. If going to receive the Bristol legacy, let him know.
