- Summary
- The circumstances mentioned in his letter cannot be regarded with indifference by those who wish him well. That doubts prevail respecting his proposed work is not improbable. Many are of opinion (and Jay concurs) that the English language and spelling should be the same in both Great Britain and America. Apprehensions that Webster's dictionary would impair that sameness may have had an unfavorable influence. Encloses what he intended to subscribe since progress has been suspended. Offers aid in rendering prospects more promising.
