- Verso annotation: The PUEBLO INDIAN is a dweller in substantial villages with house rising from one to five stories in height and bordering on regular streets or courts. In character he is peaceful, industrious and conservative. The occupation of the men is largely confined to agriculture; the women are the house builders and owners, and engage extensively in the making of pottery, which is decorated with geometrical and symbolical designs.
