Abstract
Oral history interview with Lama Anagarika Govinda (née Ernst Lothar Hoffman, 1898-1985), on his professional and spiritual path. The interview is conducted by Yvonne Rand (a Zen Buddhist teacher) and covers his early years just following the First World War, his time in Naples, Italy, etc. Concludes with a brief interview of Yvonne Rand (conducted subsequently by Ken Winkler, after Lama Govinda's passing), on additional information relayed by Lama Govinda but which was somehow lost or not recorded, and on her observations regarding the health and final days of the lama prior to his passing in Mill Valley, California.

Note (Biographical)
Lama Anagarika Govinda (1898-1985), born in Germany as Ernst Lothar Hoffman, was the founder of the order of the Arya Maitreyea Mandala and a teacher of Buddhist meditation. He is author of the book, Way of the White Clouds, and other works on Tibetan mysticism. In 1947, he married Li Gotami, a Parsi artist from Bombay. Together they traveled in Tibet, lived for many years in India, and finally retired in northern California.
