- Abstract: Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum and cottage in Dunfermline, Scotland, where he was born on November 25, 1835, the son of a handloom weaver. Andrew's first-ever public gift was for Dunfermline, when he donate £5,000 in 1874 for the "Carnegie Baths" recreation and health club, followed by his 1880 gift for a public library.

- Abstract: In 1895 Louise Carnegie bought the "Birthplace Cottage" as a surprise 60th birthday present for Andrew. After his death, Mrs. Carnegie proposed and funded the erection of a Memorial Treasure House adjoining the Birthplace. Work began in 1925 on the design by architect James Shearer. The linked buildings of the Cottage and Memorial Hall were formally opened on June 28, 1928.

- Abstract: This speech marked Andrew Carnegie's donation of the Hague Peace Palace, later a home of the Academy of International Law at the Hague. The academy was incorporated in 1914 by Carnegie Endowment of International Peace, and funded by the Endowment wit h the Carnegie Corporation's support, until 1939.

- Abstract: Colonel James Anderson opened his own private library in Allegheny, Pennsylvania to factory workers, such as young Andrew Carnegie. He became a life-long inspiration for Andrew, who viewed public libraries as the cornerstone of education and self-imp rovement. In 1904 Andrew Carnegie donated this bust to the Allegheny Free Library.

- Abstract: Carnegie Endowment of International Peace was also heavily involved in educational projects. One of the objectives of its Division of International Law was facilitating the study and improving the teaching of international law and related subjects; t hus the Division was instrumental in founding and supporting an Academy of International Law. It also provided financial and administrative support for conferences of teachers of international law and sponsored a series of eight summer sessions on international law for teachers from smaller colleges. This is one of the earliest such sessions held at George Peabody College for Teachers (now part of Vanderbilt University).
